Syringe for In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

Air-Tite Products manufactures and imports high-quality medical specialty hypodermics and other human healthcare necessities for medical providers, practices, and laboratories. We offer a wide range of syringes that can be utilized across many different areas of specialties, from aesthetics and dermatology to oncology and women’s health, including in-vitro fertilization.

In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

In-vitro fertilization, also called IVF, is a complex series of procedures that can lead to a pregnancy. IVF treats infertility, a condition in which a person is unable to become pregnant after at least a year of trying (for most couples). IVF can also be used to prevent passing on genetic problems to a child.

Syringe Use for IVF

Syringes have multiple uses in the IVF lab including embryo transfers, a procedure in which fertilized eggs (embryos) are implanted in a woman’s womb. This procedure takes place 2 to 5 days after oocyte retrieval, the process in which eggs are removed from the ovaries to be fertilized outside of the woman’s body. Embryo transfer syringes should offer increased control and smoothness of this procedure. Other related procedures that may require syringes are cutting cumulus and dissecting testicular material for testicular sperm extraction (TESE). The removal of cumulus may increase the chance of fertilization in patients with sperm antibodies, may facilitate fertilization in vitro with a small number of spermatozoa, and is necessary for microsurgical injection procedures in vitro. TESE is one of the procedures used to collect sperm from the testes (the other being TESA - testicular sperm aspiration). Our fertility customers commonly order B. Braun all-plastic syringes for their IVF procedures.

B. Braun Norm-Ject® Syringe for In-Vitro Fertilization

Many IVF practices choose all-plastic syringes because they do not require a lubricant to work. They’re ideal for applications that cannot have the potential for foreign substances (such as silicon oil) to potentially interfere with the desired results. As they do not contain silicone oil, rubber, styrene, or DEHP, and are offered in 1ml low dead space as an option, this makes them a preferred choice by some clinicians for IVF procedures. These syringes are also pyrogen-free, PVC-free, non-toxic, and feature sterile individual blister packaging. Norm-Ject® syringes have a smudge-proof scale and transparent barrel, which has also proven to be beneficial. These 2-part syringes are manufactured with a polypropylene barrel and a polyethylene plunger. They come in both Luer lock and Luer slip options for your convenience.

Syringe Sizes to Consider for IVF

One of the most popular size syringes ordered for IVF procedures is 1ml (low dead space) syringes. The low dead space features help to reduce the loss of fluids in the syringe barrel tip. Norm-Ject® all-plastic syringes are available in a wide variety of sizes ranging from 1ml-20ml.
